Christmas is not only the time of giving and receiving but also the time of family and friends.  One of the most popular ways to spend time with friends is with food.  So how do you keep your Christmas outfit clean whilst cooking up a festive feast in the kitchen?  With a brand new Slate House Christmas apron of course!

We love this Christmas apron which says ‘Eat, Drink and Be Merry’.

This stylish and practical apron comes with adjustable straps for the neck and for the waist too. It also comes with a very handy pocket to keep your kitchen utensils or recipes safe and handy.

Why not try baking these gingerbread biscuits? Why not bake these fun biscuits with your kids as a yearly Christmas tradition?

Ingredients:

100g salted butter. We love using Shirgar Welsh butter.

3 tbsp golden syrup

100g fair-trade dark muscovado sugar

½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 tbsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cinnamon

225g plain flour

50g icing sugar

Method:

Place the butter, sugar and syrup in a pan and heat over a low heat until everything has melted. Stir occasionally.

Take off the heat and leave to cool a little.

Mix the bicarbonate of soda, ground ginger, ground cinnamon and flour together in a bowl.

Pour the butter, sugar and syrup mixture into the bowl and stir.

Using your hands to mix, create gingerbread dough.

Line a rectangle baking tray with baking parchment. Roll out the dough in to a rectangle shape around ½ cm thick. Place on the baking parchment and cover with another sheet.

Place the rolled out gingerbread dough in the fridge for approximately an hour.

Heat the oven to gas mark 5 and line another baking tray with parchment.

Remove the dough from the fridge and cut out fun shapes using cookie cutters.

Place the biscuits on the tray and bake for approximately 8 minutes.

Leave the biscuits to cool completely on the baking sheet.

Mix the icing sugar with 1-2 tbsp of water and pipe on to your gingerbread biscuits.
