On 25th January people across Wales will be celebrating St Dwynwen’s day. St Dwynwen is our patron saint of lovers; just like St Valentine!
St Dwynwen was a Welsh princess who lived in what is now the Brecon Beacons National Park during the 4th Century. Legend has it that Dwynwen fell in love with a prince who she could not marry. She prayed to God that she would forget about her prince. From there on after Dwynwen vowed to never marry, and devoted her life and prayers to true lovers and their happiness.
Obviously most people celebrate Valentine’s day but if you’re a hopeless romantic and fancy celebrating both this year, here are some Welsh-made gift ideas for you to give to your special someone on St Dwynwen’s day.
